I don't think that this is a problem of Kopete

Kopete makes a connection to:
scs.msg.yahoo.com

Which needs to first be resolved via DNS. When you get this error, immediately
try to "ping scs.msg.yahoo.com" from konsole, and you should get a similar
error.
