when i use the mouse wheel on the nick selection, it it shows the new nick,
then jumps back to the previous nick for a short time, before showing the new
nick again when confirmation from the server arrives

next to the input line is a dropdown where i can choose alternate nicknames,
when i select a different one, it switches back and forth visually
