Some more detail:

Actually, pressing d and then <tab> multiple times in the above scenario will
allow you to go through both `dog` and dawg as completion choices.

The bug here is that d gets replaced with ` in the input line even before any
completion choice is made, and when pressing ESC to cancel the completion, it's
also not turned back into d.

Konversation 1.1 had the same bug, it seems.
