The reason why we don't currently: The sequence in the auto-replace list has meaning. If you set up a replace that puts 'b' in place of 'a', and 'c' in place of 'b', and they're in that order in the list, typing 'a' will get you a 'c'. This can be used to set up some pretty nifty things.
