hi

well heres a new /sysinfo script

written in python

a few changes to the old one

heres an example output

[10:57] * AchiestDragon System Information for host [Linux] is running
'linux' version : 2.6.11.4-21.9-smp built for i686
[10:57] * AchiestDragon cpu 0 is a Intel(R) XEON(TM) CPU 2.00GHz , Running
at 2004.952 Mhz , and giving a performance of 3964.92 bogomips
[10:57] * AchiestDragon cpu 1 is a Intel(R) XEON(TM) CPU 2.00GHz , Running
at 2004.952 Mhz , and giving a performance of 4005.88 bogomips
[10:57] * AchiestDragon cpu 2 is a Intel(R) XEON(TM) CPU 2.00GHz , Running
at 2004.952 Mhz , and giving a performance of 4005.88 bogomips
[10:57] * AchiestDragon cpu 3 is a Intel(R) XEON(TM) CPU 2.00GHz , Running
at 2004.952 Mhz , and giving a performance of 4005.88 bogomips
[10:57] * AchiestDragon Total system memory = 496.672 Mb , used memory =
385.816 Mb
[10:57] * AchiestDragon /dev/hda2 is :37Gb , (22% used ) : mounted as /
[10:57] * AchiestDragon /dev/hdb2 is :149Gb , (59% used ) : mounted as /home
[10:57] * AchiestDragon Local time is 10:57am up 6 days 17:06, 5 users,
load average: 0.21, 0.26, 0.24

some features over the old one are :-
colour should always be same ( using the /me message send to provide the
message as an action )

cpu list limited to displaying data for 8 cpus max , when more are present it
adds a line stating the found number of cpus and is displaying only the data
for the first 8

disk space , now shown per mount point , but should also cope with sata drives
the only exclusion being the tempfs and swap partitions are not shown

uptime is complimented with , local time , users , and load average

Dave

btw if you want a well commented version of this program , ask
