Note, I played with it a little more, and discovered that if I double click _below_ the line of text (say, at the very bottom of the screen), and to the right of it (where clicking did not open a new browser), it selected the link.

It seems in Qt that clicking, double-clicking and clicking-and-dragging in widgets such as the Konversation channel tabs, or this HTML <textarea> tag in this bug report form, acts as though you're clicking/etc. on the very last line of text.
