Bug ID: 502961
Summary: 'New Tab' button does not display correctly when the
tab bar is aligned to the side (vertical)
Classification: Applications
Product: konsole
Version: 24.12.3
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: tabbar
Assignee: konsole-devel at kde.org
Reporter: lianna at tutamail.com
Target Milestone: ---
Created attachment 180377

Two screenshots. The first showcases the issue using a left-aligned tab bar,
the second is a comparison using a top-aligned tab bar.
SUMMARY
The 'New Tab' button in Konsole's tab bar allowing you to open a new terminal
tab does not seem to display correctly if the tab bar is aligned to the left or
right of the window (aka the tabs are vertical).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Navigate to these settings: Configure -> Tab Bar / Splitters -> Appearance.
2. Activate the tab bar to show either 'Always' or 'When needed'.
3. Set the position of the tab bar to either 'To the left of terminal area' or
'To the right of terminal area'.
4. Activate the option "Show 'New Tab' button".
OBSERVED RESULT
A margin above the open tabs appears, but there is no icon within it. Clicking
the empty space does not open a new tab.
EXPECTED RESULT
A 'New Tab' icon appears above the vertical tabs. Compare the functional 'New
Tab' icon when using horizontal tabs.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0
Qt Version: 6.9.0
Kernel Version: 6.14.2-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor
Memory: 31.2 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If this is related to the icon theme in some way, I am using the Buuf icon
pack. If this turns out to be an issue with the icon theme missing an icon, I
think Konsole should rely on a fallback icon instead.
