I had 2 Konsoles running, one in the top right quarter of the screen and the
other in the bottom right quarter.

(In the latter, I was `sudo -i`ed to the root account and running `atop`, which
is likely irrelevant, but who knows.)
I tried to move the latter Konsole to some other place on the desktop using
mouse dragging on the titlebar. As soon as it left the snapped-in-the-corner
state, it crashed. So far, I haven't been able to reproduce it, so no idea what
other circumstances are necessary to trigger it.

Note that moving a window from a snapped-somewhere-related-to-the-desktop-edges
state also entails restoring its original size and therefore a window resize,
in case this is relevant.
