Please use qt5ct if you are using Qt5 applications on desktops other than
Plasma.

Nope. It is X11 code written in C, without using any toolkit.

If the menu is all black, it is also possible that the window manager doesn't
map it correctly. I doubt the issue you see is related to fonts.
