I have no solution for the clipping issue, but I reported that up-stream to Qt.
The update() without region solution might be possible, but seems costly.

I would like to backport my two commits turning on/off aliasing at the right
locations. That already fixed "most" of the rendering issues for me here with
1.5 scaling.

Would that be OK?
