I guess the reason why there are so many "me too"s is that there is nothing
done about it and the bug was filed exactly two years ago. 
This is rather basic functionality broken in a (these days) rather common
environment.

I could now go on and complain about bugs in core-functionality, while
developer time is spent on KDE-branded applications just for the sake of having
a QT-clone available, but I guess it would do no good.
