  I think you have to take into account the showAllFonts option in EditProfileDialog; if it's enabled users can select any font from the font dialog (this is to workaround issues with some fonts that aren't marked as monospace by fontconfig).
  
  IMHO, one way would be to check if the font is monospace before setting the styleHint to QFont::TypeWriter.
