Trying to define keyboard shortcuts for Alt+Shift+digits (eg. Alt+Shift+1) is
awkward. Finally one manages to enter the sequence (only when typed slowly),
but then it only works once. Afterwards, it disregards Shift and transmits
Alt+digit to the shell which then goes into numeric argument mode.
