Christoph, thanks for your explanation, it makes perfect sense now.

Also, it seems to me that continuous runs of identical colors are rendered in a
single step, not caring about a possible drift in position. Then at the next
color change (no matter if it's by an ANSI sequence or by mouse highlight)
rendering continues from the desired position.
