For me nothing makes bolded fonts work, no matter what font family used (apart
from *all*-bold fonts of course). Checking and unchecking doesn't work either.

I tested it with the command 
> echo `tput bold`bold`tput sgr0`
using konsole v2.14.2.

On other terminals it works for me.
