Confirmed, this occurs because the current global application selection is
used.

Does somebody actually use this dnd functionality? It seems broken for me
(ctrl+dnd just pastes the selection in the current cursor position without
clearing text). In that case, could as well use the middle mouse wheel to
trigger the X selection.
