This may be a worthwhile task, but if it's only vim support you seek, vim can
read/write the X clipboard directly with its +X11 support, no term support
required. In some distributions this means you have to run the gvim binary as
vim (e.g. alias vim=gvim) but otherwise this should be transparent.
