Hi Stephan,
first of all, thank you for the fast reply,
I didn't try to remove the "fortune message", but I found that my problem is usual
to happen to slackware users with the 10.0/10.1 version  of the O.S.  using the
the kernel 2.6.X and udev (version 050 in my case).Accordingly their opinion is
that  it is an UDEV problem , and they say the (ultimate) solution  is using
back devfs and 2.4.2X kernel (as in the standard slackware installaton).
My opinion is not the same,because if I switch ,using ctrl+alt+F6,to a bash console,
when I am using KDE , I gain a full working shell, so the problem is KDE related ,
not udev related.
