Same problem on Konsole 2.9., Kde 4.9.2, Fedora 17.

I can confirm that disabling the phononserver kded module avoids the freeze.

On Fedora 17:
# mv /usr/share/kde4/services/kded/phononserver.desktop ~/
Restarted kded4 and the problem disappeared.
