Konsole is the only KDE application that can utilize a transparent window, so
you do not see the issue with other applications. Try "konsole
--notransparency" (from Alt+F2, after killing all Konsole instances).

The crash in the X server is caused by the drivers not supporting transparency
(ARGB visuals) correctly. Please report this issue to
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/
