It seems this problem is related with the shell. I can still reproduce the
problem in comment #5 easily with bash, but zsh does not have this problem at
all.

The above observation also holds in xterm/rxvt-unicode/mlterm/vte/putty. So I
guess the real problem lies in the shell, not emulator.
