patch to make new tab give a new default tab instead of cloning current

I've been using this patch since 4.5.3 up to 4.6.5 (i hope it will also work
with 4.7, but not tested yet). I'm not a programmer, so this probably isn't
good enough to be used as is, but maybe it's a starting point.
