It's not only mc.

Try this:

- fill the screen with some text (i.e. cat /etc/services or dmesg)
- decrease the text as much as you can (ctrl + -)
- mark the text
- paste it somewhere

The lines on top will have extra spaces.

My biggest annoyance in KDE4 ;)
