Hey I've got more input on this problem...
I happened to try "konsole -graphicssystem raster" because vim was a bit slow
in konsole... (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172250) -- it was not very
slow, but just a bit annoying when scrolling line by line continuously
It did solve the slowness, but also the mouse selection problem !
I've experienced those 2 problems (mouse selection and slowness) with bitmap
fonts, with 2 difference ati graphics cards (ATI radeon X300 and ATI HD 4670),
resp. with drivers xf86-video-ati and fglrx.
