Michael, thank you for this experiment!

I suppose this bug can potentially affect Konqueror and great many other KDE
applications but as my surmise is now proved right (see comment #43) at least
Konsole should have its own memory allocator.

With OpenBSD malloc allocator there can be a problem - when I ran Firefox under
it, Firefox crashed quite frequently. Can you confirm that Konsole is stable
for you?

And now I wonder if it is possible to preload OpenBSD allocator for all
applications using libQt (by overriding libQt's malloc/free glibc usage).
