Hello David,

The 'New Profile' button in Settings -> Manage Profiles creates a copy of the
selected profile. This is the equivalent of editing an existing profile and
then saving it under another name. The reason for changing the approach was
because the old system resulted in a lot of bug reports where people changed
their settings via the menu and did not understand why they didn't "stick" when
they restarted the terminal or why they only affected the current tab and not
the others.

Regarding the context menu, I wanted to keep the menu tidy and restricted to
only commonly used actions - I felt that did not include everything in the
'Settings' menu. Plus, if you did want to change a group of settings at once
(eg. font size, color scheme) then going into the settings menu from the
context menu repeatedly is not very convenient. Instead Konsole in KDE 4 is
built around the idea of creating groups of settings for different purposes and
then providing quick access to that from the context menu.

As a power-user feature, you can have some control over which actions appear in
the context menu by editing the /usr/share/kde4/apps/konsole/sessionui.rc file.
