I have made some changes in configuration of konsole:
1) Settings > Edit current profile > Input
2) Select "Solaris console" and confirm by "OK" or "Apply"

With Default (XFree 4) console asterisk (*) did not work in Midnight Commander,
as well as there were problems with numpad in VIM. This "input mode" was
pre-selected for all the time I have been using konsole.

With Linux console or Solaris console no problems in VIM appeared. But with
Linux console function keys F1-F5 did not work in Midnight Commander. With
Solaris console all works fine.

The core of the bug will be probably hidden in key mapping.
