Browser tabs closing 'magically' can cause data loss, as well. I can't see much
difference, there.

The main issue I see here is that, usually, MMB on X means 'I want to access
information' whereas in the Windows world, there is no such correlation. If
there were such a thing, I am certain FF would never have used MMB for 'I want
to destroy information'.
