me, too.  furthermore, toggling on and back off to actually deactivate the menu
bar, as described in reply #2, is futile, because switching to another session
within the console window and then switching back (i switch between sessions a
lot) leaves the menu bar reexposed.  bad news for those of us who generally
want the menu bar to not be showing.
