Generally speaking, I find it more reliable to accomplish this by wrapping
su/sudo with user binaries.
(I don't use "root shells" as such. When I run 'su', konsole switches color
schemes, the "real" su asks for a password... and when I exit the su shell,
konsole switches back to the normal color scheme.)
