I've the same problem. I'm using 4.0.84 and Nvidia GPU too. I've noted a 0,5-2 seconds wait then I:

-Maximize or restore the konsole window.
-Call the "expose" effect when there is some konsole running
-Change desktop when the origin or destiny desktop is one containing a konsole

If I use Konsole from KDE3 (inside KDE4) all these problems dissapear.
