Summary: wish: Bring back custom background images
           Product: konsole
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: konsole-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: kde_bugzilla.zen.ssokolow spamgourmet com

Version: (using KDE 4.0.5)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

I like how KDE 4's Konsole is shaping up (though I only use Konsole normally as a KPart in Yakuake) but allowing a custom background is, for me, a non-optional feature.

True transparency is distracting and eye-straining whenever there's a window under the terminal (pretty much all the time) and solid-colors are also, to some extent, eye-straining.

Here's one relevant comment subtree from an old LWN article --> http://lwn.net/Articles/88179/

Ideally, I'd like to see a runtime option to select a background color, background image, and how much to tint the image with the color (selected via a slider). Making a specially-tinted background image in GIMP or Krita is a big pain and fraught with trial-and-error if I want to get it just right.

For KDE 3.5, I've just been using the pseudo-transparency to simulate that feature. I rarely see uncovered desktop anyway, so I've just let my Yakuake background needs determine my choice of desktop background.
