Why is this bug marked as resolved ? It's still there !
On Fedora 7,
   kernel-2.6.23.12-52.fc7
   kdebase-3.5.8-9.fc7
   kdelibs-3.5.8-7.fc7
   qt-3.3.8-7.fc7
   scim-qtimm-0.9.4-7.fc7
Removing scim-qtimm, as suggested by the ubuntu thread, seemed to fix the problem.
I am using a french keymap (and there is some indication that the bug only shows for a non US keymap).
