Selecting large blocks of text on a new konsole tab also exhibits extreme slowness when using a bitmap font in comparison to a scalable font. This is without any background colours etc.

Graphics card is an nVIDIA GeForce 7600GS PCI-E with TwinView enabled (2xDVI outputs at 1600x1200 each) and (II) NVIDIA dlloader X Driver  169.07  Thu Dec 13 18:45:27 PST 2007

My xorg.conf is highly customised - will attach.
