Hi Robert,

Thanks for having a look.  I've started an xterm session and ran Konsole from that as you suggested.  So far I haven't had a single session hang in four days!  *rolls eyes*

I'll give this a go for another couple days, then try starting Konsole from the desktop again and see if that makes any difference.  Sound good?
