No, for that you would still need QuadKonsole.  The split view works
differently in Konsole than it does in some other KDE applications in
that each split view area has its own tab bar, showing all of the
sessions which you can use to change the session shown in each area.
You can have four different shells showing in the same Konsole window
though, or multiple views showing different parts of the same
session's output.

The rationale is that it allows you to divide up the work area so that
you might have one view for 'active' tasks such as editing a file
which would be fairly large and then another smaller view for
'monitoring' tasks where you might want to switch between tabs to look
at the output from different activities.

In KDE 4.0 at least, the views are all split along the same direction
eg. 3 views with a vertical divider between each or 4 views with a
horizontal divider between each.  The attached screenshot has an
example.
