Still can't reproduce.  I tried using your LANG also.  Works here...

1.cpp: In function `int main()':
1.cpp:5: error: expected primary-expression before '}' token
1.cpp:5: error: expected `;' before '}' token
make: *** [1] Error 1

What char is before your int?  Mine looks like backtick `, while your's looks different.
