Konsole uses KDE font dialog as does KControl; the font must be fixed-width for Konsole to use.  
I have 4 couriers listed in the Font Dialog: Courier 10 Pitch, Courier New, Courier [adobe], Courier [ibm]


Perhaps you font system is not setup correctly?  Regardless, not a Konsole issue.
