I implemented bold text along the lines of xterm in Konsole SVN and it looks fine in the standard white-on-black and black-on-white colour schemes with Vim, man, coloured ls output and others that I tried.

One or two of the 'intensive' colours would work better if they were slightly different shades (eg. the 'intensive' green in the white-on-black scheme is a little too light), but other than that I cannot see a problem.
