Up to and including KDE 3.4, Konsole's Session Icons were clearly distinguishable by the session type icon in the tab bar.

The session icons all depict a small single-coloured computer monitor with a differently-single-coloured screen. The screen is making up the biggest part of the icon.

The default terminal session icon had a black screen, the mc icon a blue screen, and the root session a red screen.

Since KDE 3.5, this has changed. Instead of discriminating the session type against the colour of the screen, the session type is now discriminated against the colour of the *monitor frame*! I. e. the screen is black for all types, but the frame is white, blue, or red respectively.

To make things worse, the frame is only *slightly* tinted by the colour, just to the contrary of the highly saturated screen colors in the good old days.

This causes a big usability issue as the frame area is nearly indefinitely smaller than the screen area. Combined with the virtually non-existent saturation of the session-discriminating-colours makes it impossible to distinguish the session icons at one glance at the typical 22x22 resolution.
