It would be nice if konsole supported the 256-colour xterm escape sequences:

<ESC>[48;5;<nr>m - set the background to colour <nr> and
<ESC>[38;5;<nr>m - set the foreground to colour <nr>,
where <nr> is between 16 and 232 for a 6x6x6 colour cube and between 232 and 255 for gray colours.
