I just wanted to write a similar bug report. This split view option would enhance greatly the power of konsole. Often I find myself opening two konsole instances and place them next to each other. With this option, fidling around placing konsole windows (especially on laptops) would be a thing of the past.

I find myself often in the case of reading a README file in a given directory and wanting to execute a shell program at the same time. With a split view, the same directory could be accessible for multiple purposes and viewed at the same time.

As an option, like in konqueror, two split views could be linked with each other and thus changing the location in one view could happend simultaneously in the other view.

Thanks for working on Konsole, one of the best programms in KDE!
