Generally when performing actions, there is either a moment of consideration before committing, or there is an easy undo. I don't think a universal undo for shell commands is likely in the near future, so I'd like to have some way to preview what is going to happen before it actually happens.
Only pasting up to the first newline is only one possible implementation. If Konsole could for example show the clipboard contents as a tooltip before I release the middle mouse button, it would solve my problem as well. Or like KSirc: warn when pasting multiple lines (KSirc pops up a confirmation dialog when pasting more than about 5 lines).
