I made a two mistakes in the first description of the bug.  Selecting "Rename Session..." 
from the context pop-up menu does not result in the mouse pointer disappearing.  
Additionally, the problem is not a result of renaming the session, but rather open the 
"Rename Session" dialog via the key stroke "Alt+Ctrl+S".  When pressing any key the 
mouse pointer hides (a normal feature when typing in Konsole), and this is true when 
pressing "Alt+Ctrl+S" to rename the session.  However, even if the Cancel button is 
pressed in the dialog, the mouse pointer does return from hiding.  I hope this is clear. 
 
I did discover how to make the mouse pointer appear once again in the text region of 
the session.  If a new session is created by clicking on the "New" button in the toolbar, 
the cursor once again becomes visible in the session's text region.
