well, it already is an alternative: Settings -> Confgure Shortcuts ... the 
default is everything, though. the current default is inconsistent with other 
kde apps (kate and ksirc to name two), but that's probably because there 
haven't been any formal decisions on "which key moves between views" (since 
KDE is more SDI oriented?)..

in any case, i'm happy with my Alt-ified konsole =) take care...
