Package: konsole
Version: KDE 3.0.0
Severity: normal
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.3 2.96-110)
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

I'm pretty new to unix so here is my first bug report.

I think I figured out the bug/problem:

WHen you open Konsole (herein known as console because my fingers are used to typing it) and try to play a sound in gaim for example, it does not play. Neither does using the play command on the console. However, when I use xmms, or Kabootle, it plays correctly. I'm guessing this has to do with the "Autosuspend if idle for x seconds". I am assuming that the console is taking ownership of /dev/audio and is also owned by KDE in some wierd way. I dunno if this is a bug or a feature but either way, it is annoying since I can't hear sounds coming from gaim...;-)

Thanks guys!
