Start konsole and go "cat < a png file of choice>" and watch the content get printed. The problem is, if you use the konsole afterwards it will print weird characters and the bash prompt will also look weird. Issuing a  reset command solves this. 
An virtual terminal doesn't suffer from this problem.

I'm using the latest cvsup, I checked it out while CVS was down.
