Summary: Konsole's name not displayed in the taskbar
Product: konsole
Version: 1.1.3
Platform: RedHat RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: konsole-devel at kde.org
ReportedBy: LpSolit at netscape.net
Version: 1.1.3 (using KDE KDE 3.0.3)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux
When many windows are open, the buttons to these windows in the taskbar are becoming so small that it is not possible anymore to read the name of the konsole's windows. This is particulary painful when one has many konsole's windows opened. Previous version of RedHat (7.2 and maybe earlier) diplayed first the name of the window and then the login name of the user and of the computer (I am not sure about this last comment).
To be more precise, I now have:
my_name at my_computer:/path/to/my/current/directory - name_of_the_window - Konsole , e.g.
clinton at titanic:/home/durand/NIST/simulation/fortran/fire - FORTRAN Simulation - Konsole
But I would prefer something like:
name_of_the_window my_name at my_computer:/path/to/my/current/directory - Konsole, e.g
FORTRAN Simulation clinton at titanic:/home/durand/NIST/simulation/fortran/fire - Konsole
The advantage of this last proposition is that if the taskbar contains many buttons, we could at least read "FORTRAN Simulation" instead of "clinton at titanic". I know who I am and I know the name of my computer. If I named my konsole's windows, it is for a precise reason: to indentify and find them more easily!
It was like this before; so why changing something which was really useful? At least, we could choose what we prefer in a menu or something equivalent.
Sincerly
