I use for months courier new 12pt + AA with Debian woody + KDE from sid
without the problem you describe, but uhmm, QT_XFT=0 konsole shows it:

I'm a bit busy. So maybe ask on debian-kde at lists.debian.org
with a reference to http://bugs.kde.org/db/40/40479.html
if someone knows a solution?

And Stephan before you have to ask again ;) courier new w/o AA from
KDE_3_0_BRANCH does not show the bug.

To me vi is Zen. To use vi is to practice zen. Every command is
a koan. Profound to the user, unintelligible to the uninitiated.
You discover truth everytime you use it.
