Compiling the latest and greatest

Ok, a new OS, a new compiler, a new day...
I started from scratch, this time with Qt3.2.3 (rather than 3.3.0 beta) and
the December snapshot. It went pretty close to textbook. Some doctoring in
the configure (kconfig, dcop, etc had to be commented out) But I had far
less trouble this time.

PS I was using RH 7.2, with gcc 2.96 previously, I'm on RH 9.0 now.

Not much... but I have looked at the source lines you have referenced.
It looks like the configuration script didn't detect that inet_pton is
indeed
present on your system, so the kde-supplied version is enabled.
But since the function is available, the compiler goes crazy.
Now, since you said that you doctored the script, it would be helpful to
know
where the script went wrong the first time, and what changes you made to it.

Thanks,
Luciano
